Hello all my Stapleholics, this is one of the first writing of the return of The Stapler to FSI and it is about the new release of AKIRA by Pioneer and it blows chucks. The reason is that the voice talent is weak and doesn't fit most of the characters in the anime and two, this story doesn't have the impact it once had 1988 when released by Streamline Pictures, in which the voice talent was stronger and not "Toonamize" for a new generation. The Pioneer version has one plus, it has a completely restore Original Japanese version and new English dialogue, different then that of the Streamline 1988 release. In finishing, The Stapler found this to be a boorish attempt at updating an anime classic, and for all the Stapleholics out on the web, don't waste your $25.00 on this DVD, but on something with more of an edge on it like Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.
