This three issue series is the return of Frank Miller to a Batman series. Miller is returning to catch some of his former glory as writer/artist by going back fifteen years to his The Dark Knight series. The Stapler wasn't impressed with The Dark Knight Returns the first time, but read it anyway to see what the new Dark Knight was like in Miller's vision at the time. Now in 2001 Miller returns to what made him great and cash in on the Batman Phnom of the past ten years by writing the long awaited sequel for his fans. Now The Stapler read this issue knowing full well that Miller would go back to his old stick of Superman bashing and killing of villains, since he killed off Batman's rogue gallery in the first series. Now Miller has moved on to Supes rogue gallery to pit the Dark Knight against. The Stapler found this issue really predicable for Miller and somewhat instulling to his fans after years of great storytelling in Sin City, things like The Question, who is now in the Dark Knight universe, who comes off like Alan Moore's Roushack from The Watchmen. If The Stapler was asked at this time would The Stapler recommend this series to his Stapleholics, The Stapler will have to hold his vote until after issue three, but at this time there are better issue out there to spend your $7.95 a pop on, like finding the last few months of The Amazing Spider-Man or a trade of Kingdom Come or Alan Moore's Watchmen.
