By Popcorn Avenger Jim Carrey’s The Majestic is a fanciful tale about a man who is living a seemingly empty existence, only he is not aware of it until his career as a screenwriter is threatened. After he is accused of being a communist symathizer, he goes on adrinking binge which results in a car accident and his being mistaken for a missing World War II veteran. In his new identity he quickly sees the magic of Hollywood, a magic he missed as a screenwriter. Frank Darabont, in his first non-Stephen King inspired film, shows that he too understands the feel good magic of movies, and we are invited to for a couple of hours indulge in an innocence of decades gone by.
