By Popcorn Avenger Those waiting for Star Wars or Spiderman, take heed, the summer movie season HAS kicked off. I am sure that you have heard this all before, but I think it is worth repeating... The Rock has all the makings of being the next big action star. He has charm, charisma, and a good sense of humor. All of these qualities are apparent in The Scorpion King. The story really is a simple one that has been played out many times before on the silver screen. A brother seeks revenge for the murder of his sibling. While on the path to vengence he is joined by a wise-cracking sidekick and a beautiful sorceress (the stunning Kelly Hu). Well anyone who has seen The Mummy Returns knows what the outcome of this tale will be. It was nice to see an action film that is not dominated by computer graphics. Many of the stunts here were performed by humans. This film is a very enjoyable afternoon at the cinema and a great warm-up for the box office blockbusters to follow.   Back to Movie Index |
