By Popcorn Avenger I am sure we have all uttered that phrase whenever a new teen movie featuring whoever happens to be a flavor of the moment premieres. And based on the title of this film, so have the filmmakers. I guess if you can’t beat them… saterize them. Not Another Teen Movietakes shots at recent hits like Varsity Blues, She’s All That, and classics, such as Pretty in Pink, and The Breakfast Club. While most of the humor hits the mark, one must wonder why take the time to now poke fun at John Hughes ( a filmmaker of such teen-angst-filled films like The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles). I’d like to think that this film pays homage to Hughes by showing how many of the plots and characterizations that are standard in today’s films started with John Hughes in the 80’s. If satire is the highest form of flattery, the Hughes should feel very flattered.   Back to Movie Index |
