By Popcorn Avenger It has long been thought that Edward James Olmos is the premier Latino actor in Hollywood… Let it be said that we here at Fat Sacs Inc. recognized the talent that is Veteran Character Actor Hector Elizondo who should be thought of as the premier Latino. In the small independent film Tortilla Soup, Elizondo gets the rare opportunity to lead a very strong cast in this family drama, based on Ang Lee’s Eat, Drink, Man, Woman. Elizondo is also a master chef who must come to grips with losing his sense of taste and smell, and a father who must come to grips with his three daughters gaining their independence and moving out. The film is a delightful tale that showcases little known Latino actors. Of particular note is Paul Rodriguez who gives a charming performance as an affable baseball coach who weds one of the three daughters. Tortilla Soup is a tasty confection of warmth and charm.
