Coupling

By Popcorn Avenger

Coupling is truly a television hidden gem. It comes to us from our friends across the pond via BBC America. Coupling is the story of a group of friends who frequent a local pub and explore the nuances and intricacies of sex and dating. "Hey, isn't that the plot of Friends?" Well, to the casual observer, this might be the conclusion, but Coupling is no more a Friends clone than Friends was a Seinfeld clone. But where Coupling excels is that it brings a creative story telling wit that other Friends type shows lack, including Friends. The series informs us of such concepts as : the sock gap, unflushables, the zone, men's attraction to "naked bottoms", and porn buddies. The creative scripts are supported by a very strong cast of fine young British actors. Particularly good is Richard Coyle as the dim-witted Jeff (Matt LeBlanc take note!!!). If you don't have BBC America, Coupling is enough reason to call your cable provider and request this channel.
