Okay, here is the set up… Emeril Lagasse, renowned television chef for The Food Network, is playing Emeril Lagasse, renowned television chef for The Food Network. No, this is not a case of mirror, mirror worlds on the new Enterprise series, this is an actual set up for NBC’s new show. This show has its heart in the right place but on the heels of such strong ensembles as Frasier,, Seinfeld and Just Shoot Me, Emeril just doesn’t work. It does have its moments and Lagasse is surprisingly good. Robert Urich, appearing in what be his umpteenth television series, is also amusing playing a womanizing agent for Emeril. His supporting cast is sufficient, but the writing is just so plain and boring for a fall TV. show. This caliber of writing I would expect in a mid-season replacement. To sum up… I don’t think any amount of culinary mastery will make this soufflé rise.
