By Popcorn Avenger A police evidence room officer is injured in an auto accident; he is found by a brilliant, but mad(why are they always brilliant but mad?) scientist; he is rebuilt from animal parts to become a super-crime fighting officer. Rob Schneider’s follow up to the hit film Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo is this summer’s The Animal. Schneider has all the markings to be the next SNL star to hit it big. The Animal, like Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo may not stretch any intellectual muscle, it does tickle your funny bone. While one might point out the simplicity of the story and the lack of logic in the storyline as a flaw to the film, this film never carries the pretenses of producing a great piece of art. The Animal just wants to entertain and it does. In a summer where many of the major blockbusters have failed to deliver the goods, The Animal looks just that much more impressive.
