By Popcorn Avenger Most of the pre-release hype for this film centered around the fact that Halle Berry bares her breasts… of course this was why I went. But Halle’s breasts aside, this film was enjoyable summer-fare. The high-tech crime thriller follows a down on his luck hacker (Hugh Jackman) who is enticed by a charismatic government operative (John Travolta who hams it up again as he often does when he plays the heavy) to hack into various computer accounts. The real thrill here (after Berry’s breasts of course) was Hugh Jackman. He burst into Hollywood last summer as Wolverine in The X-Men, and Swordfish confirms that he has all the makings of a modern action hero: intelligence, sensitivity, and charisma. Swordfish is a sleek and stylish thriller that is one of the better films in a summer of mediocrity.   Back to Movie Index |
